Give & Take

The easiest and most logical thing to do when it comes to training for big events is to let it rip day in and day out. Pushing yourself to the limit, learning to suffer, and always finding new ways to gain that extra percentage of fitness is essential. But there’s a downside; it’s not sustainable. Fitness gains are only realized when stress is balanced with recovery. Your body, especially as it ages, will drop hints at first if this balance is out of whack. If you don’t listen, injuries occur and all those gains you worked so hard for quickly disappear. 

The art of give and take is one you have to figure out by yourself. It starts by listening to and knowing your body, then finding ways to reward hard work with gentle recovery. If you learn to strike the right balance, you'll be to keep doing what you love the most: training hard!
