Meet Thys

Swivel Bottle was invented and founded by Thys Wind (pronounced “TICE”). A lifelong endurance athlete and outdoor junkie, Thys grew up in the Netherlands and made the move to the U.S. in 1987. Back in the day, he was a competitive swimmer—and when his dad introduced him to running in his teens, he never looked back. Since then, he's racked up countless marathons and triathlons, including big-name races like the Boston Marathon and the Ironman World Championships.
While chasing finish lines, Thys also earned a Master’s in Health Fitness Management, setting him up for a career in corporate fitness and later as an endurance coach.
In 2007, he joined the crew at Endurance Magazine, where he spent nearly a decade as Director of Events. During that time, he helped launch some iconic races like the Tar Heel 10 Miler (UNC), Bull City Race Fest (Duke), and Ramblin’ Rose women’s triathlons across the Carolinas. In 2015, he traded race logistics for lunchboxes and became CEO of the Wind household—raising his two boys full-time.
Thys has worked with athletes of all levels, from weekend warriors to elite pros. Over the years, one thing became clear: proper nutrition is a game-changer in endurance sports. That insight, along with his love for innovation, led to the creation of the Swivel Bottle.
Swivel Bottle is not a corporate hydration lab. It’s a small company started by a lifelong runner who got tired of making compromises when running with "other" sports bottles. Now you never have to choose between water and fuel again. Two drinks. One decision. Zero compromise.
Our Mission
To help athletes take control of their performance and recovery by making hydration simpler, smarter, and more personal.
Our Vision
A world where carrying your own fuel isn’t a hassle or an afterthought, it’s second nature. Swivel Bottle wants to redefine what the everyday runner expects from their gear: comfort, clarity, and the freedom to go further.
