Carbs are the new carbs!

If you've been paying attention to the latest news and chatter coming out of the endurance sports world, you're probably been hearing a lot about the importance of carbohydrate intake. More specifically, we're learning that taking in more carbs makes a HUGE difference.

Coaches, YouTube shows in the industry, elite athletes, and probably also your training buddies are talking about cramming in more carbs while you're exercising. But, didn't we know this already?! Yes and no. We've known for a long time that consuming about 30-60 grams of carbs per hour is wise and will prevent bonking, but the latest lab and field research is highlighting that those recommendations may have been way too low and that the performance gains when taking in more carbohydrates are significant, especially during long sessions/races.

Of course with the advancement of food science leading to the latest and greatest electrolyte replacement products on the market, our GI system is now able to better absorb what it so desperately needs, but the trick is still to find the right product for you. Once you do, you might be surprised to find out that supplementing with as much as 90 grams of carbs per hour is exactly what you need to perform at your very best, especially if your training session or race is longer than 2 hours.

If you're looking for a great product that we love (not a sponsor), you might like Precision Fuel and Hydration. They also have a lot of excellent information about this subject if you want to learn more!

Just one more reason to carry your carbs with you, using a Swivel Bottle of course!

Happy training!
